HOTEL KUMMER
Hotel Kummer is a historic building standing at the corner of one of the main shopping streets in Vienna. The task of the project was to optimise the building by adding a roof top structure as a landmark, renovating the hotel floors and connecting the retail space with a subway station.
Inspired by the baroque style of sweeping concave and convex outlines on the historical facade, the roof structure was formed by a modern and elegant concave shape of the floorplan. Instead of a classical dormer window solution according to the viennese building law, an innovative solution was suggested with a new interpretation.
